Celebrating Neil's 60 Years as a Preacher

neil 60 years 2

In March 1964 Neil Moffoot became a fully-accredited Methodist local preacher in Middlesborough

Having started ‘on note’ as an eighteen year-old. Via Africa and Skipton, he came to this area where he has spent most of his sixty years (and counting) as a preacher. To mark this significant milestone and to celebrate such dedicated service, a presentation was made to Neil during the united service at Yeadon on Pentecost Sunday.

Rev Roger Smith read the Presidential letter to Neil in which Rev Gill Newton and Deacon Kerry Scarlett say: The preaching of the Word has always been at the heart of our Methodist understanding of mission and ministry, a place to recall the history of our salvation, to find fresh insights from the treasury of Scripture, and to rebuild our confidence and enthusiasm for our ongoing journey of faith.

Responding with thanks, Neil said he had always tried to leave his congregations encouraged and uplifted. He expressed heartfelt thanks to his wife Christine for her support throughout his journey as a preacher.
