Circuit Mission Statement – Partners in God's Mission
"The calling of the Methodist Church is to respond to the gospel of God's love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission. It does this through: Worship, Learning, Caring, Service and Evangelism." ("Our Calling," The Methodist Church, 2000)
As a Circuit, through partnership-working and courageous decision-making about the use of resources, we seek to encourage the churches to grow in discipleship and mission. The expressions of such encouragement will include:
- Recognising and developing partnership-working with God – deepening our spirituality both as churches and individuals.
- Working together, as a Circuit, to create a positive culture of lifelong learning and discipleship in all of the churches.
- Equipping and resourcing local churches in partnership relationships with each other for mission in their communities – providing training, staffing, pastoral oversight, and financial support.
- Advocacy work throughout the Circuit on our four "Mission Foci" – rural ministry, airport chaplaincy, work with children and young people and the needs of older people.
- Recognising and developing partnership-working with ecumenical and non-church agencies where God's mission can be advanced.
- Applying a concern for environmental sustainability to decisions about property schemes and use of financial resources.
- Ensuring good practise in applying safeguarding legislation in order to help the churches be safe and welcoming communities for all.
