Circuit Mission Statement -Transforming Lives, Sharing the Gospel, Sustaining Hope

"The calling of the Methodist Church is to respond to the gospel of God's love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission. It does this through: Worship, Learning, Caring, Service and Evangelism."
("Our Calling," The Methodist Church, 2000)

Mission Statement: Our mission is to embody the life of Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit by being communities of Christian disciples seeking to transform lives, share the Gospel and sustain hope.

Transforming Lives: We are committed to allowing Jesus to work within us, fostering spiritual growth and formation. We embrace change and transformation as we partner in God's mission to make all things new, recognising God's constant work in our lives and the world.

Sharing the Gospel: Our love for God is expressed through love for our neighbours. We prioritise sharing the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ with those inside and outside our church communities. We equip ourselves to confidently share our faith and identify creative ways to serve our communities.

Sustaining Hope: We seek to sustain vibrant Christian communities, environmentally and financially responsible buildings, and eco-friendly lifestyles. We aim for efficiency and effectiveness in our structures and models for ministry, finance, buildings and staff workloads to ensure sustainability and thriving in our roles.

Biblical Foundation: We are focussing the life of our Circuit around four key Bible passages:

  • John 10: 10 – "I have come that they may have life, and life in all its fulness."
  • Luke 10: 27 – "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind and love your neighbour as yourself."
  • John 15 – the chapter where Jesus talks about himself as the Vine and his followers as the Branches and which asks how we might abide in Him and He in us.
  • Acts 2: 42 – 47 – a passage describing the communal and formational marks of the first Christian communities, and which records the response of society to the presence of God revealed through the people of God.

As we seek to embrace these key passages and themes we look to do so with hearts and minds filled with the courage, encouragement, joy and hope that the Holy Spirit offers to us.

We are part of the Yorkshire West District of the Methodist Church. Further details here
