Circuit Roadshows

Those of you who are members of our Circuit Meeting will recall that at our last meeting we agreed to put the proposal to form two multi-site churches (plus Christchurch LEP) to the local Church Councils for them to decide either to opt in to one of them or to remain as a Church with their own managing trustees. As part of this proposal, we also agreed to develop a roadshow presentation to enable as many people as possible – both managing trustees and church members – to find out more about the proposals before the Church Councils meet to vote on them.

We had hoped that these roadshows would take place in the 2nd half of November. However, the Circuit Leadership Team has given more thought to the timescale for both the presentations and the meetings of Church Councils. In order not to rush the presentations, to enable the gathering of as much information as possible to inform the presentations and to avoid impacting upon our celebrations for Advent and Christmas, we have decided to move the presentations back to the New Year. We have identified the following timescale for the process of discernment to take place:

A short invitational video has been shown in Churches on Sundays 1st and is available via the link below. The video will detail the reasons for and timings of the presentations and will offer an opportunity for all church members to attend a presentation to find out more about the proposals.

Presentations will take place on the following dates:

  • Tuesday 7th January 2025, 7.30pm at Christchurch, Ilkley
  • Thursday 9th January 2025, 10.30am at Burley Methodist Church
  • Monday 13th January 2025, 7.30pm via zoom
  • Tuesday 14th January2025, 10.30am at Yeadon Methodist Church

All Church Councils will meet between the 20th January and the 14th February, where votes will be taken on the proposals.

Please can I encourage you to hold this process in your prayers as we seek the wisdom and guidance of God for the future life and mission of the Circuit.
