In September, Menston Methodist Church hosted the Knitted Bible; thirty three of the best-loved scenes from the Old & New Testament in knitted form

Over the course of the week, in excess of £1,000 people visited the church to view the different scenes and admire the handiwork.

The exhibition was created by the members of St George's URC Church, Hartlepool who started knitting at the end of February 2008, intending to create the scene of 'The Last Supper'. However, enthusiasm and imagination led them to create over thirty scenes from the Old and New Testaments.

Their hope is that in depicting some of the best-known stories in the Bible, everyone who sees them will be able to understand and enjoy them – and may discover some detail that they had forgotten or never noticed before – whilst learning more about God and his love for this world and its people.
